The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) is reportedly taking disciplinary action against a serving officer who allegedly ran as a candidate in the recent All People’s Congress (APC) lower-level elections.
Officer Hassan Sannah Kargbo, who is reportedly stationed in the Falaba District, was exposed when fellow political aspirants discovered his name on the party’s internal candidate list.
The revelation has sparked widespread discussion on social media and raised significant concerns among political observers regarding the neutrality and conduct of the country’s security personnel.
Under Sierra Leone’s law enforcement professional standards, members of the police force and other security services are strictly prohibited from participating in active, partisan politics. Security personnel are expected to maintain strict neutrality to effectively provide impartial protection and maintain order during electoral processes.
Political analysts have noted that if these allegations are confirmed, Officer Kargbo’s participation directly violates professional conduct requirements and risks undermining public confidence in the impartiality of the police force.
While reports indicate the SLP is initiating disciplinary procedures, neither the police leadership nor the All People’s Congress has issued a formal public statement addressing the incident.
The matter remains under intense public scrutiny. Stakeholders and citizens are calling for clarity from relevant authorities to reaffirm the sensitive, non-partisan role of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding electoral integrity.

This is gross violation and breach of police ethics and conduct. The officer must tried by a properly constituted disciplinary investigation committee. If found guilty, there is no reason why he should not be dismissed from the police force. He can not be running after two rats. He should be dismissed from the police and given the chance to be a politician.
Good luck to him.
What I’m seeing is Nat a contesting document but membership document.
If he contested for any position, then he has committed a crime.
Bit to be sincere I believe almost all the members of all the forces in Sierra Leone had joined one of these political parties. They are party card holders. If he contested then that is a crime
