A large-scale security operation code-named “Operation Safe Street” has led to multiple arrests and the seizure of illegal substances in Kenema, as the Sierra Leone Police intensify efforts to rid the city of drug-related activities.
The operation, spearheaded by Chief Superintendent Bob Musa Mansaray of the Kenema Division, was jointly conducted with personnel from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
The coordinated raids targeted several identified hotspots, including Circular Road, Hotagua Street, Total–Kamboi Night Club, Ngombu Section, and Tissor Village.

Led by Inspector Mohamed S. Conteh, the Operation Officer, the team uncovered several drug hideouts and arrested a significant number of suspects believed to be connected to the illegal trade. A variety of illicit substances and related exhibits were confiscated and are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Chief Superintendent Mansaray praised the professionalism and dedication of his officers and the RSLAF team, reaffirming the Division’s determination to restore law and order.

“Operation Safe Street will continue until Kenema becomes a safe and drug-free city,” he assured, urging residents to support the police by providing credible information on criminal activities.
Police say investigations are ongoing to uncover the wider network of suppliers and distributors operating within the region.
