Inspector Mohamed A. Y. Kanneh of the Sierra Leone Police has confirmed that an investigation into the issue of bomb manufacturing is ongoing with 14 suspects currently in police custody.
Kanneh made this statement during a press conference organized by the Sierra Leone Police on Monday, 29th July 2024, at police Headquarters in Freetown, while representing the Director of Crimes at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
He said three of the suspects Hussein Antar, Ibrahim Antar, Jamal Antar, are Lebanese nationals, while 7 are Sierra Leoneans Samuel Marrah, Ibrahim Basiru Kamara, Suliaman Bah, Abdul Aziz Kamara, Allieu Kamara, Ahmed Bangura and Alhaji Kamara.
He disclosed that out of the 14 suspects that have been interviewed, 4 will be reportedly charged to court.
Also, Assistance Commissioner of Police, Francis Brima Mende who is the Regional Commander of Freetown West, revealed that Freetown West is considerably calm for now but that the heavy rains are causing lots of harm within the capital. He added that at Murray Bah community, about 5 to 6 people were reportedly damaged due to the heavy downpour.
He further disclosed that checkpoints are well manned and that last week, about 4 to 5 hours search was conducted at the Rokupa community where 4 rounds of magazines were found in a container and that last Friday, one Amadu Jalloh was arrested and found in possession of nine jackets and two military combats.
