The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) mandated to regulate the affairs of political parties in the country has condemned the speech make by Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) politician, Kadiru Kakkai threatening to wage war in the country if he did succeed President Bio after the 2028 election.
According to the PPRC press release, such a statement by Kaikai is unacceptable and has no place in the country’s democracy.
The press release continued that such a statement is a violation of section 39 (1) d of the Political Parties Act No. 25 of 2022 which prohibits political parties including their members, supporters, candidates, and operatives from making inciting statements or hate speech against a political party of its opponent.
It commended the Leadership of the SLPP for its swift response in condemning Kaikai statement.
It’s called on the Office of National Security and the Sierra Leone Police to investigate Kaikai and take necessary steps as provided by law.
The press release in conclusion admonished all registered political parties in Sierra Leone to continue with their normal business within the confines of the laws of Sierra Leone.
PPRC should also hold themselves responsible for all the hatred that is being going on in our country. There are people from the opposition party, including their leader, who have been carrying out their hate speech all along towards another political party and the country. Neither PPRC nor the police or any other security party took action(s) against them. This is what is causing every “donkeys” to now think they can do the same and get away with things. Please, to you the PPRC in general, can you also take up the case against these people, especially in the diaspora, who are threatening our country every now and then to bring them to justice wherever they reside? This will be for the peace and tranquility of our country.
I think there’s so much amount of hypocricy at play both from the PPRC, the police and the ONS as a whole…where were they when so much hate speech was prolificating the entire nation as well as in the diaspora from supporters of the main opposition party and still is on-going and yet no action has been taken on these perpetrators nor any press releases coming from any of these bodies. Why now?
