The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has confirmed the death of a 19-year-old who was four months pregnant following the collapse of a four-story building in Freetown.

The tragedy occurred on Sunday night amid heavy rainfall.

According to BBC journalist Umaru Fofona, community volunteers have been working tirelessly throughout the night to rescue those buried under the rubble. Despite their heroic efforts, many people remain unaccounted for.

While search and rescue efforts are ongoing for two more children who they believe are still trapped in the rubble.

A total of five male adults have been rescued from the collapsed building where a family of eight were residing, according to NDMA.
