President Julius Maada Bio conferred citizenship on 109 African Americans who traced their ancestry to Sierra Leone on Tuesday 6th December 2022.

This came after an orientation workshop was conducted by the Monuments and Relics Commission (MRC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs which took place at the Shanrgi La Bar and Restaurant on the 29th of November 2022.

African Americans are people born in the diaspora to African parents.
