President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has departed for the United Kingdom to deliver the keynote address at the fourth edition of the OpenAg Symposium, which will focus on the future of food and agriculture in the face of climate change.

The event, organized by the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD), will emphasize the role of sustainable agricultural practices in securing global food security and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

The 2024 symposium, co-organized by UPL, a global leader in sustainable agricultural solutions, will bring together experts to discuss strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through innovative farming practices. Organizers have stressed the importance of resilience and sustainability in agriculture as crucial elements for ensuring food, water, and energy security in the future.

President Bio will be accompanied by First Lady Fatima Bio, Chief Minister Dr. David M. Sengeh, and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Dr. Henry M. Kpaka. The event aims to explore the challenges facing both national and international food security, while highlighting agriculture’s role in promoting economic stability for farmers and nations alike.

With climate change increasingly threatening agricultural systems worldwide, the symposium seeks to foster global collaboration to address these pressing issues.
