BECE Starts Today: MBSSE Minister Encourages Pupils to Shine Bright
As the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commences today Monday 29 July, the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sackey has sent a heartfelt message of encouragement to the 126,496 pupils who will be writing this year’s examinations.
In his message, Minister Conrad Sackey addressed the pupils, emphasizing the significance of their efforts and determination as they embark on this important academic milestone.
This year, a total of 126,496 of you – 61,380 males and 65,116 females, from 1,833 schools, will be writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at 333 centers across the country.
The Minister highlighted the exams as a critical step towards a bright and promising future. “As you write the papers, remember that this is a stepping stone to a bright and promising future. Your efforts and determination are the keys to unlocking new opportunities,” he said.
Minister Sackey reassured the pupils of the Ministry’s unwavering belief in their capabilities and its commitment to supporting them. “The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education believes in you and supports you every step of the way. Stay focused, stay calm, and let your true potential shine,” he encouraged.
Concluding his message, the minister extended his best wishes to all the candidates. “Wishing you all the best of luck!” he expressed.
The BECE is a crucial examination for pupils in Sierra Leone, marking the completion of their basic education and opening doors to higher educational opportunities. This year’s cohort, comprising a slightly higher number of female candidates, reflects the ongoing efforts to promote gender parity in education.
As the exams begin, pupils across the country are reminded of the support and encouragement from their educators and leaders, urging them to give their best and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.
