With the departure of Abass Bundu from the helm of the 6th Parliament, the race for a new speaker has escalated.

Reports suggest that Hon. Sengepor Solomon Thomas, the current deputy speaker, is poised to emerge as the successor.

However, another formidable contender in the spotlight is Hon. Sidi Mohamed Tunis, the former speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament. Tunis brings a wealth of experience and a reputation for exemplary leadership, positioning him as a frontrunner for the esteemed role in Sierra Leone’s Parliament.

Earlier this week, Dr. Abass Bundu, the Speaker of Sierra Leone’s parliament, tendered his resignation to President Bio citing illness as the reason.

Reports indicate that the consultation process to decide the next speaker has concluded, with the decision now firmly in place. As anticipation mounts, the nation awaits the official announcement regarding the new leader of the Parliament.
