Rokel Commercial Bank has been recognized as the Lead Innovative Bank 2025 in West Africa at this year’s AfriTech Awards, held for the first time outside Sierra Leone.
The prestigious event celebrates individuals, institutions, companies, and private sector actors across Africa who are driving transformative growth through technology and digital innovation.
The AfriTech Awards provide a unique platform to acknowledge organizations and individuals that continue to develop products and services aimed at bridging the digital divide across the continent. This year’s edition expanded its scope regionally, fostering networking and collaboration between African economies.
Representing Rokel Commercial Bank, Mrs. Michaella Macauley, Jarnet Massaquoi, and Ekundayo Martyn received the award with humility and honor. Speaking on the bank’s transformative journey, Mrs. Macauley highlighted the leadership of Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin, noting that his visionary guidance, strategic insight, and unwavering commitment have propelled Rokel Commercial Bank into a modern, digitally-driven, and people-centered financial institution.
The event featured a keynote address by Mr. Alhajie Jeng, Secretary General of the West Africa Bankers Association, who praised the innovative strides of financial institutions across the region.
The recognition further cements Rokel Commercial Bank’s reputation as “the Bank of Choice”, reinforcing its commitment to leveraging technology and digital platforms to deliver impactful financial services locally and across borders in Africa.
