The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey, has announced that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially opened its online portal for the Batch Registration System (BRS) uploading of school candidates for the School West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2026.

According to the Minister, the portal became accessible on January 1, 2026, and will close on February 28, 2026. He emphasized that the registration period is fixed and warned that no extension will be granted under any circumstances.

Minister Sackey called on school authorities across the country to handle the registration exercise with seriousness and urgency. He stressed that only cleared, accurate, and complete candidate data must be uploaded to avoid errors or discrepancies that could affect students’ examination records. He further stated that schools will bear full responsibility for the correctness of all information submitted through the portal.

The Minister also urged principals to continue the verification process with Deputy Directors at the district level and to submit the final list of candidates to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education within the stipulated timeframe.

He warned that any school that fails to upload its candidates’ data before the deadline will face appropriate penalties, in line with existing regulations.

In addition, Minister Sackey appealed to parents and guardians to take an active role in the registration process. He encouraged them to follow up with their children’s schools to ensure that BRS details, including names, subjects, and other vital information, have been accurately uploaded.

He cautioned parents not to assume that the process has been completed, noting that early verification can prevent last-minute challenges that may affect a candidate’s participation in the School WASSCE 2026.

The Minister concluded by reminding stakeholders that timely action is crucial, stressing that early attention to details can help avoid avoidable problems later in the examination process.
