Sierra Leone’s Communication, Technology and Innovation Minister, Salima Bah advocated for strengthening of enhanced cybersecurity resilience and measures during the World Bank’s World Digital Summit.

Bah’s advocacy highlighted the importance of strengthening cybersecurity measures as digital technologies continue to evolve and integrate into various sectors.

Participating in a panel discussion titled “And the Screen Went Dark: In the Mind of Leaders Navigating a Cybersecurity Crisis,” Minister Bah highlighted some of the challenges faced in the past years to Navigate a Cybersecurity Crisis.

During the discussion, Minister Bah shared Sierra Leone’s plans to strengthen its cybersecurity space, with focus on the need for clear legal frameworks, increased public awareness, and improved cyber capabilities.

“Additionally, these actions are aimed at creating a safer and more trustworthy digital environment for Sierra Leoneans while protecting critical digital infrastructure,” she said.

The session included global experts such as Philipp Mueller (Harvard University), Sumit Dhawan (CEO, ProofPoint), Takuo Imagawa (Vice Minister, Japan), Enkelejda Muçaj (Deputy Minister, Albania), and Audrey Mnisi (Ghana Association of Banks).
