In response to a summon regarding alleged cybercrime activities, Dr. Samura Kamara, the former presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, has requested clarification on the charges and expressed his commitment to cooperate with the authorities.

Dr. Kamara has confirmed his willingness to assist investigators but is seeking deferral and more detailed information regarding the nature of the inquiry being conducted by the Cyber Crime Unit. He is expected to address concerns related to recordings circulating online, in which he purportedly identifies himself as the President-elect. The content of these recordings has drawn the attention of law enforcement agencies.

On May 1, 2025, Dr. Kamara’s legal representative, Franklin Bai Kargbo, communicated with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on his behalf. In the correspondence, Kargbo stated, “As you are aware, your invitation can be declined or accepted. However, my client, being a model citizen, is inclined to cooperate with you in this matter.”

The letter requested further details regarding the alleged remarks, specifically the time and location of their occurrence. It also noted that Dr. Kamara is currently out of the capital attending to pressing family matters. In seeking a new date for his appearance, the letter emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth and timely resolution while maintaining national stability.

Additionally, the correspondence was forwarded to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. William Fayia Sellu. As of the time of this report, no public response has been issued by either the police or the CID.
