Security Forces Take Control of Masiaka After Hoodlums Barricaded Main Highway

Security forces took control of Masiaka late on Monday after reports on social media that youths in the northern town barricaded the main highway blocking vehicles entering and leaving the capital, Freetown.

One eyewitness report indicated that youths around the ages of 18-25 armed with machetes blocked the important Freetown highway after partial results were announced on Monday by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).

Vehicles were seen queued outside the town.

Masiaka is located in Port Loko District in the Northwest Region and is a stronghold of the main opposition, All People’s Congress (APC) party.

The party rejected the 60 percent results announced on Monday with one of their leaders in Lungi claiming that the result is exclusive of the north and northwest regions -their strongholds.

“I’m at the regional tally centre in Port Loko.

“In the presence of observers, ECSL staff just confirmed that they didn’t send any results from this centre to ECSL office,” Abdul Kargbo, an APC Parliamentarian said.

The incumbent Julius Maada Bio of the Sierra Leone People’s Party is currently leading APC Samura Kamara by a large margin.

A candidate would have to secure at least 55 percent of total valid votes to prevent a runoff.

Meanwhile the ECSL Boss, Mohamed Konneh said final results will be announced on Wednesday.

Sierraloaded, I think you guys need to improve on your strategies of investigation, the update about the masiaka issue is not centered on the announcement of the partial results. It was an already planned operation by shenanigans of the ruling party within that constituency to take advantage of the announcement of the results to execute their plans of killing key stakeholders of the opposition party in masiaka.

We should not be distracted by loosers of the APC party as they always intend to send propaganda news on media. Our mother lands Mama Salone come first, including the voices of her legitimate children. God has the final say in everything you do. Besides, you don't need to fight for a golden opportunity if you deserve it through your standard performance towards the people. Now is their voices speaking, and not ECSL as corruption party cliamed. May God almighty judge according to his righteousness in Jesus's mighty name. Amen and Amen. I hate wickedness in people who don't value God's own ways of doing things. That is the devilish act of Satan. I want all Sierra Leoneans to reflect back on the story in the book of Exodus about how God hardened the heart of King Pharaoh as he was full of arrogance which led to the destruction of the Egyptians in the Red Sea. Our God of yesterday, today and forevermore is still speaking to APC party as Pharaoh to let his people of Sierra Leone go or gain their freedom from long-term captivity. Surely, we shall see the end as it was in Pharaoh's story against God's will for Sierra Leone.
