On Monday, December 2, 2024, a crucial security meeting was convened at the Sahn Town Court Barry to address growing concerns of theft and lawlessness in Malen Chiefdom, with a particular focus on the SOCFIN Agricultural Company.
The session was chaired by Regent Chief Alex B. Lamin, who underscored the urgency of combating the theft of palm oil and restoring peace and order to foster the region’s development. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between community members and security stakeholders.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Michael Tommy, Officer Commanding the Sahn Malen Police Post, introduced police officers from Pujehun and Bo City who attended the meeting. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lawrence Sao Taylor addressed the critical issue of traffic law violations, warning motorbike riders and drivers against reckless driving and operating without licenses.
Francis Solomon, Head of Security for SOCFIN, called on community members to adhere to by-laws that protect the company’s assets, encouraging mutual cooperation to ensure harmonious relations.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Brima Kanneh, Regional Police Commander South, assured attendees of his commitment to maintaining peace in Malen Chiefdom. He announced plans to bolster police presence in the area to tackle lawlessness, issuing a strong warning against involvement in criminal activities, including drug-related offenses. AIG Kanneh highlighted the Southern Region’s achievements in crime reduction under his leadership and pledged to continue these efforts.
Superintendent Alieu S. Kamara, Regional Operations Commander, echoed these sentiments, assuring the community of prompt actions against criminal elements and the reinforcement of law and order.
The meeting concluded with a unified resolution among stakeholders to prioritize security and promote the development of Malen Chiefdom.
