Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, has arrived in Dakar for the 2026 Yidan Prize Conference, scheduled for Tuesday, 30 June 2026.

Dr Sengeh is expected to deliver the conference’s keynote address under the theme, “Unleashing Africa’s Potential: The Role of Education in a New Era of Development.”

According to the Chief Minister, his presentation will focus on “Radical Inclusion in an Era of Artificial Intelligence,” examining how artificial intelligence can be leveraged to improve access to quality and equitable learning opportunities across Africa.

He also revealed that the conference will provide an opportunity to reconnect with global education leaders, including Mathias Esmann.

Accompanying him on the trip are two local government representatives: Councillor Fatu Bockarie of Kenema City Council and Councillor Ibrahim Gbla of Freetown City Council.

“When we speak of education development, there must be a connection between global ideas and local leaders,” Sengeh stated.

Beyond the conference, the Chief Minister is expected to hold high-level engagements with Senegalese government officials during the two-day visit as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Senegal.

He is also scheduled to meet with international development partners supporting Sierra Leone’s vision for education reform and innovation.
