Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh held a strategic meeting with renowned Dutch football icon Edgar Davids during his recent visit to Dubai, UAE.

The discussion centered on fostering young football talent and creating sustainable pathways for aspiring athletes in the country.

Edgar Davids, celebrated for his illustrious career with top European clubs such as Ajax, Barcelona, AC Milan, juventus and inter Milan expressed keen interest in supporting grassroots football initiatives in Sierra Leone.

Recognizing the wealth of untapped talent in the nation, Davids highlighted the importance of investing in training programs, infrastructure, and mentorship to elevate local players to international standards.

Chief Minister Sengeh welcomed Davids’ interest and emphasized the government’s commitment to youth development through sports. He outlined President Julius Maada Bio’s vision of using sports as a tool for empowerment, education, and social cohesion.

Dr. Sengeh underscored the need for partnerships with global sports figures like Davids to inspire young Sierra Leoneans and provide them with opportunities to excel.

The meeting concluded with an agreement for Edgar Davids to visit Sierra Leone in the near future.
