First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Bio, has urged Sierra Leoneans to refrain from associating her and Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh with the presidency, emphasizing that neither of them is the president of the country—President Julius Maada Bio is.

“Sengeh is not the president of Sierra Leone but the Chief Minister that is working on the mandate of President Bio. I am not the president but the First Lady who is married to the president of this country,” she clarified.

Madam Bio said David Sengeh, the Chief Minister, is just working on the mandate of President Bio, adding that the same applies to her who is just the First Lady married to the president and is doing her own thing.

She disclosed that the work she is doing as the First Lady has nothing to do with the presidency, as her focus is how to protect women and children to be safe.

She also said her aim is to let every women know their right and girls child understand that their right should not be infringe upon, and also boys will understand that president Bio did not divide them but brings them together by the time her First Lady tenure expires.

She mentioned the Free Quality School Education initiative, which she said was the President’s vision. However, she emphasized that it became a success through the collective efforts of everyone involved.
