Sierra Leone’s MCC 2024 Scorecard reveals a mixed performance,While Sierra Leone showcased successes in Land Rights, Employment Opportunities, Political Rights, Civil Liberties, Control of Corruption, Rule of Law, and Freedom of Information, these accomplishments were counterbalanced by shortcomings in Fiscal Policy, Inflation, Trade Policy, Government Effectiveness, Health Expenditures, and Natural Resource Protection.

Notably, the control of corruption indicator witnessed a 3% decline, meeting MCC standards but falling from last year’s score. The overall score dropped to 76%, compared to 79% in 2023 and higher scores in 2022 (83%) and 2021 (81%).

Child Health showed progress, reaching 22%, though below MCC standards.

The country’s lowest score was in Fiscal Policy, plummeting to 7% from 26% and 27% in the preceding years.

The MCC, established in 2004 by the U.S. Congress, aims to collaborate with the world’s poorest nations committed to democratic governance and economic freedom.
