Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority is set to host the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) Single African Air Transport Market airshow in Lagunda Conference Center Freetown, Sierra Leone on the 29th and 30th of July 2024.

From its inception, AFCAC was technically, administratively, and financially managed by ICAO through African Member States ’contributions.  AFCAC became autonomous from ICAO Management on 1 January 2007.

Given the Strategic role and position of Sierra Leone in the Banjul Accord Group (BAG) of States, AFCAC wishes to use this airshow as a follow-up to the recent airshow held in Banjul the Gambia, at the Secretariat of the Banjul Accord Group of States of which Sierra Leone is an Active Member.

The airshow will focus on high level engagement with Sierra Leone state agencies for Transport, Tourism, Trade, and Finances, as well as the National Implementation Committee (NIC) and SAATM Focal Points.

The Vision of AFCAC is to foster a safe, secure, efficient, cost effective, sustainable and environmentally friendly civil
aviation industry in Africa.

The Mission is to facilitate cooperation and coordination among African States towards the development of
integrated and sustainable air transport systems.

The benefit of SAATM airshow is to promote the application of the Key Performance Indicator Tool to monitor and evaluate YD/SAATM Implementation among the Seven member States, advocacy meeting with Stakeholders (Airports Airlines, ANSP, Immigration, Customs, Revenue Authorities, Ground Handling Companies, Tourism Boards, and ECOWAS, to ensure Significant improvement to optimize SAATM Implementation in terms of infrastructure, Visa Openness, trade facilitation, technology and digitalization as well as the removal of other Non-Physical barriers to SAATM.

The Single African Air Transport Market Pilot Implementation Project (SAATM-PIP) Coalition Airshow in Sierra Leone, will create the enable environment and opportunity wherein Director General of Civil aviation and key Stakeholders of the BANJUL ACCORD GROUP OF STATES will participate at the Airshow aiming to increasing air Connectivity, Promoting New 5th Freedom Traffic Penetration.

The Single African Air Transport Market Pilot Implementation airshow Project will also entail operational/technical assistance that is required by Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority for the improvement of Safety, security, Environmental Protection, Air Transport, and other Civil Aviation areas in order to optimize a successful SAATM Implementation.

The Main focus of the Airshow will be the Following.

A, Removal of Impediments such as.

I. Non-Harmonization of Application costs (Foreign Ops Specs)
ii, Non/late approval of Carrier Designations;
III, High inspection, Costs, Taxes, Charges, and Fees;

iv. Passenger and Cargo Facilitation Issues; and

v. Other Non-Physical barriers.

B) Engagement with Airlines and Airport will focus on;

I, Promoting partnerships;

ii, Commercial Collaboration-Interling/Codeshare .

iii, Technical Coorperation.

iv, Tourism

v’, Intra Africa trade/Cargo routes development amongst African airlines.
