The Government of Sierra Leone has successfully completed the validation of the revised Civil Service Codes, Rules, and Regulations.

The updated document, which has been in development since 2022, is now ready for Cabinet approval.

The revision of the Civil Service Codes, Rules, and Regulations was necessitated by the introduction of the GEWE Act 2022, the youth policy, advancements in technology and digitalization, and new developments related to incentives, sanctions, and compliance.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs, in collaboration with Civil Service leadership and a ministerial subcommittee, conducted extensive consultations to ensure that the revised document aligns with current best practices and addresses the evolving needs of the civil service.

The Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, expressed satisfaction with the completion of the validation process, noting that the existing Civil Service Codes, Rules, and Regulations had not been updated since 2011. He emphasized the importance of having a modern and relevant framework to guide the operations of the civil service.

The revised Civil Service Codes, Rules, and Regulations are expected to provide a clearer and more comprehensive set of guidelines for civil servants, promoting efficiency, accountability, and professionalism within the public sector.
