The Government of Sierra Leone has confirmed four cases of Mpox as of January 16, 2025.

One case is female, and three are male. The cases have been identified in both Western Urban and Western Rural areas.

Mpox is a viral zoonotic disease transmitted through close contact with an infected person, animal, or contaminated materials. Symptoms typically include fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes.

“The Ministry of Health is actively monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus. We urge all citizens to remain vigilant, practice good hygiene, and promptly report any suspected cases by calling 117.”

No recoveries or deaths have been reported at this time.

The government emphasizes the importance of community cooperation to contain the outbreak.
