The Sierra Leone delegation to the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) on Monday, December 23, 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the new Ambassador of Sierra Leone to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mohamed S. Barrie.

Leading the delegation, Sierra Leone’s Permanent Representative to the IMCTC, Colonel (retired) Simeon Nasiru Sheriff, expressed enthusiasm in welcoming Ambassador Barrie and reaffirmed the delegation’s commitment to representing Sierra Leone’s interests in the coalition.

“On behalf of the team, I extend our gratitude to His Excellency, the President, Brigadier (retired) Dr. Julius Maada Bio, for granting us the privilege to serve as envoys of our nation,” Colonel Sheriff stated.

Highlighting the IMCTC’s role, Colonel Sheriff explained that the coalition was established nine years ago by nine Middle Eastern and North African nations to combat terrorism. He noted its expansion to 42 member states, including Sierra Leone, with more countries poised to join.

Ambassador Barrie, in his remarks, praised the delegation’s efforts and reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to supporting their mission. “Your work contributes significantly to Sierra Leone’s global standing, and the mission will continue to stand by you,” he said.

The Sierra Leone IMCTC delegation in Riyadh includes Colonel (Retired) Simeon Nasiru Sheriff, Captain (Navy) Hassan Jansson Conteh, and Lieutenant Colonel Muctarr Samugutie Tejan.
