Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay, alongside Deputy Minister of Justice, Madam Saptieu Elizabeth Saccoh, unveiled the e-Justice Blueprint at the Guma Building, marking a significant advancement in the country’s efforts to modernize its justice system.

The blueprint is said to be a part of the Sierra Leone’s Digital Transformation Project and aimed to modernize the country’s justice system, making it more efficient and transparent. Attorney General Sesay emphasized the importance of the project, stating that it will enhance access to justice for all citizens, regardless of their location.

“The e-Justice Blueprint marks a crucial step towards modernizing Sierra Leone’s justice system, making it more accessible, efficient, and transparent,” said Sesay. He highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring that justice is not just a privilege but a right for all.

Reportedly, the plan seeks to address existing gaps in the current systems and prepare Sierra Leone to meet challenges posed by the digital age. Further reports revealed that the Canadian Academic and Industrial Network (CAAIN), a consulting firm with expertise in digital solutions and justice sector reforms, is leading the initiative, ascertaining that their experience would guide the country in implementing best practices in transitioning to an e-Justice framework.

Ms. Kumba Musa, the Project Coordinator, stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders for the project’s success. She noted that every participant, from government officials to citizens, plays a vital role in achieving the project’s goals. “This project is a collective effort. Every stakeholder, from government officials to citizens, plays a crucial role in the success of the e-Justice Blueprint,” emphasized Musa.

Notably, the launch of the e-Justice Blueprint reflects the government’s broader commitment to keeping Sierra Leone’s justice system aligned with global technological advancements.

As highlighted in the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project, the ultimate aim of the initiative is to foster a more user-friendly and integrated justice system, which not only enhances service delivery but also strengthens accountability and upholds the rule of law.
