The Transitional Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), of the Sierra Leone Police and other law enforcement agencies has on Saturday 13 July, 2024, set ablaze two hundred and seventy-three (273) Cartoons of Diclofenac and seventy (70) Cartoons of Tramadol, worth one million and eighty thousand United States Dollars ($1,080,000).

The destruction of the 343 Cartoons marks the third destruction of narcotics in 2024.

“We did this same exercise in February and April this year and we are here again today,” Mr Ibrahim Kargbo, Deputy Director National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency.

The Tramadol he said weighs 4200kg while the Diclofenac weighs 6000kg bringing the total weight to 10200kg.

 

 

The Tramadol he went on to say was worth $700,000 and the Diclofenac $380,000.

Director of Crime Services, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Lahai emphasized that the ultimate goal of the destruction was not to have such Drugs in the country.

With such narcotics, the future of the country’s youth population he said is bleak.

He therefore called on the public to help with intelligent that may lead to the arrest of importation, sales and distribution of narcotics drugs.
