Ambassador Junisa Precious Gbeteh Sallu Kallon of Sierra Leone participated alongside international dignitaries at the United Nations Headquarters on Friday to formally commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
During the gathering, leaders, diplomats, and special visitors discussed the organisations’ accomplishments and the pressing issues confronting the globe today, including violence and inequality, climate change, and the need for renewed global collaboration.
The anniversary included a short film by award-winning director Sing J. Lee that depicted the UN’s evolving impact throughout time and the celebration of tackling today’s most critical concerns.
The ceremony also featured live performances by Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage and the UN Chamber Music Society, conducted by Brenda Vongova, which highlighted the organisation’s diversity and cultural solidarity. Ambassador Kallon’s involvement showed Sierra Leone’s continuous commitment to multilateral diplomacy and support for a strong, inclusive global system.
