Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health has announced plans to recruit 1,000 health workers for civil service positions. This initiative aims to address the country’s healthcare needs while also providing employment opportunities for qualified individuals.
The recruitment is the first phase of the 2,000 added employment planned to address the delayed recruitment for fiscal years 2021 and 2022.
According to a reliable source within the Ministry of Health, the recruitment drive will focus on nurses who have previously served as active volunteers in various healthcare settings across the country. These dedicated volunteers have demonstrated their commitment to public health and will now have the opportunity to transition into formal civil service roles.
It is understood that this recruitment effort will further strengthening Sierra Leone’s healthcare system, which has faced challenges due to limited resources and staffing. By expanding the workforce with trained and experienced nurses, the Ministry of Health aims to improve the quality of healthcare services and enhance access for the population.
