The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), through its Family Support Unit (FSU), has continued its sensitisation campaign on sexual reproductive health at schools across Bonthe District.

One of the latest sessions took place at the Islamic Call Society Secondary School in Mattru Jong, where Detective Sub-Inspector Adama Voonu Sowa, Head of the FSU in Bonthe Division, led a team of officers and the Media and Public Relations Officer in delivering the awareness session to pupils and teachers.

The campaign aims to educate school-going children on sexual reproductive health, highlighting risks, consequences, and the social impact of unsafe practices. D/SI Sowa urged students to focus on their education, emphasizing that “girls should be girls and not mothers, while boys should be boys and not fathers.”

Supporting the session, Detective Sergeant Sinnah J. reminded pupils that sexual and school-related offences carry severe legal consequences, stressing the importance of discipline and law-abiding behavior.

The initiative is part of the SLP’s broader transformation agenda from a “Force” to a “Service,” which seeks to strengthen police-community relations, build public trust, and empower citizens with knowledge on safety and social responsibility. The awareness campaign is expected to continue in other schools in the region.
