The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have declared a Sri Lankan national, Mohamed Hairu Zainulabdeen, wanted in connection with alleged offences involving illegal dealings in precious metals and the smuggling of gold.
According to a public notice issued by the police, Zainulabdeen, a Chartered Engineer by profession, is wanted for allegedly dealing in precious metals without a valid dealer or exporter’s license and for smuggling gold to Ethiopia and Dubai. Authorities also accuse him of forging government documents and exporting gold without paying the rightful owner of the precious metal.
Police records indicate that the suspect has links to Freetown, Conakry, and Dubai, where he is believed to have conducted some of the alleged activities. He is described as an adult male of light brown complexion and a Sri Lankan national.
The declaration was issued under Warrant Number W/A 115/2026, as part of ongoing investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The Sierra Leone Police are urging members of the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone who sees or has information about Mohamed Hairu Zainulabdeen is advised to immediately contact CID Headquarters in Freetown or report to the nearest police station.

Police authorities have also announced that a handsome reward will be offered to anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
The police stressed that public cooperation remains critical in supporting law enforcement efforts to combat illegal mining activities, document forgery, and the smuggling of precious minerals in Sierra Leone.
