Sierra Leone has been rated fourth among five countries with the highest malaria death rate as was researched and published by Laiba Immad.
The report maintained that the Total Deaths per 100,000 People: 81.1 and that Sierra Leone stands forth among the countries with highest malaria death rates, reporting over 2.5million cases and more than 7000 deaths annually. Malaria contributes to 40% of hospital admissions and 37% of deaths in children under five.
President’s Malaria Initiative and the Global Fund focus on bed net distribution campaigns and surveillance. International support from organizations like the CDC and PEPFAR aids the country’s healthcare system beyond malaria, addressing issues like HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
Sierra Leone was rated forth-81.1% among other countries ranging from the Central African Republic-86.8% which stood at the first place, Nigeria-82.3 Second, Burkina Faso-81.2 third and Niger-80.7% at the fifth place respectively.
