The Sierra Leone Red Cross In execution of their IRP program has commenced a 3-day training and dialogue for women and girls in 48 Saving and Loan Association groups across 12 operational communities in Western Area districts.

The SLRC in their social media angle shared that the engagement aims to equip vulnerable women with tools and SGBV training to combat violence, empower them with knowledge about their rights and entitlements, strengthen their resilience, and foster a culture of saving. They reported that these sessions were the distribution of checkbooks to the 48 SLA groups that were initially established since the inception of the IRP Program in 2022.

At the end of their post they explain the benefits that the beneficiaries will have after the training.

They said, “Upon completion of the training, it is anticipated that these women and girls will have acquired valuable insights from their interactions with program staff and volunteers, as well as a comprehensive comprehension of concepts related to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).”
