As of Sunday, May 11, 2025, the Government of Sierra Leone has reported a significant increase in Mpox cases across the country. The latest figures indicate a total of 1,980 confirmed cases since the outbreak began, with 1,586 currently classified as active.

In the past week, there have been 165 new cases and 12 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 383. Unfortunately, the death toll has risen to 11.

All districts and regions have now reported cases of Mpox, with the Western Area Urban and Western Area Rural regions experiencing the highest concentrations of the disease. The Western Area Urban has reported 1,326 cases, while Western Area Rural has seen 414 cases.

Health officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and adhere to health guidelines to curb the spread of the disease.
