Sierra Leoneans stranded in the desert of Timbuktu, Mali has in a heart-wrenching video received by our media house, make a distress call to the government and the International Organisation for Immigration (IOM) for immediate rescue and support to return home.
These fellow citizens, including youth, women, and children, embarked on a quest for better opportunities but have been stranded in the nearby desert for several months. Their dire situation involves a lack of safe drinking water, insufficient food, and no secure shelter.
Despite the authorities in Mali’s attempts to reach out to any nearby Sierra Leone Ambassador for assistance, their efforts have so far been unsuccessful in rescuing and repatriating these distressed individuals back to Sierra Leone.
Watch Video;
Mr and Mrs Migrant is there any deportation camp in Timbuktu , Mali or only in Niger ?
These guys are just trying to sabotage the government.Whay have they been doing in that desert for the past 8 months without asking for help? Saying all other nationalities have rescued their people with the exception of Sierra Leone shows that politics is at play also. Even at the point of death, Sierra Leoneans will play dirty politics.
With all warnings for illegal travelling I can’t believe people are still risking their lives all in the name of travelling and they are now shouting for Government to intervene.🤔
If they have the money to travel they must have the money to return.. Let the sign to repay the government by installment on their return. Failing to pay they would be sent to national farm plantation to work for 1 year…This nonsense must stop..
They money the spent in travelling should have been invested into small scale planting of pepper, lectuse and other cash crops.cassava plantation is money today in the country. A cup of pepper is going for Le.10. But because we are very lazy, we think Europe is the answer.
Mr government please 🙏 assist them back home
