Some Sierra Leoneans in Europe have converged in the Belgian city of Brussels to stage a protest against President-elect, Julius Maada Bio and his government. The protest took place in front of the European Parliament in the Belgian city.
It has been suggested that the driving force behind the protest is against 24 June election results announced by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).
The ECSL announced the incumbent Bio of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) as winner after scooping nearly 57 percent of total valid votes casted.
The main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) refused to accept the results calling for it to be released by polling station rather than by district level.
The protesters held placards that referred to Bio as “dictator” and some calling on the EU to save Sierra Leone’s democracy.
The protest which took place on Monday afternoon shared resemblance to an earlier one held in London last week.
You are waisting your time, come and protest in Sierra Leone.
For sure it’s now time to ”SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY” 🇸🇱🇸🇱🇸🇱 we do believe the Intentional community had heard OUR Cry for so long….
Lazy people wasting their time in another’s man country. Do u think the white people are fools. Nigeria did its election with worse cases of electoral malpractices. Do u see Nigerians in diaspora going to the streets protesting. Only Lazy people !
Most of these guys are not serious at all. They beat you here in Sierra Leone and you are crying in the UK, the USA and many other countries across the world, please come to Sierra Leone and protest. We are ready and prepared to welcome you. Stupid fools.
You guys will suffer again in the 2028 General Election. APC will surely die in opposition if the few intelligent people in party do not lead and control the party.
