The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) iVerify has refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting the invitation of former President Ernest Bai Koroma to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning.

The association confirmed that the individual in a viral video allegedly being invited to the CID was not the former president, contrary to the misleading information shared widely online.

The confusion arose from a video that surfaced on social media, purportedly depicting the former president being summoned by the CID. However, SLAJ iVerify’s investigation revealed that the person referred to in the video was, in fact, Bai Mamoud, the former President of the Young Congress within the party.

Ady Macauley, an executive member of the All People’s Congress (APC), clarified the situation to SLAJ iVerify, affirming that the recorded video was associated with the arrest of Bai Mamoud, not Ernest Bai Koroma. Macauley’s statement provided essential context, elucidating the misunderstanding surrounding the misrepresented video.

Additionally, Lansana Dumbuya Esq., the National Secretary General of the APC, dismissed the claims, stating that neither he nor the party had any knowledge of such an invitation directed towards the former president.
