In a move to solidify the working relationship between the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), newly appointed Director General Madam Josephine Kamara paid a courtesy visit to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. William Fayia Sellu on Wednesday at his George Street office.
The visit aimed to express gratitude for the existing collaboration between the two institutions and explore avenues for further cooperation. DG Kamara specifically commended the SLP for their support and highlighted concerns regarding the security threats posed by squatters occupying the frontage of the SLBC’s New England facility, including their canteen.
Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, DG Kamara called for immediate action to clear the makeshift structures and expressed a desire for improved welfare support for SLP personnel deployed to secure the SLBC compound.
IGP Sellu warmly welcomed DG Kamara and reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining and strengthening the collaborative efforts between the two entities. He acknowledged the valuable role the SLBC plays in disseminating information about police activities and operations.
Furthermore, IGP Sellu pledged his dedication to the well-being of all SLP personnel, including those stationed at the SLBC facility. He assured DG Kamara that he would instruct the Local Unit Commander of Central Division to take immediate steps to address the security concerns at New England Ville.
