The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) has dismissed rumors saying that its head office in Freetown has been set ablaze and its Director General arrested.
The statement comes amidst ongoing gunfire in Freetown.
“SLBC is neither ablaze nor under siege”, Minister of Information, Chernor Bah said in his summary statement on Sunday Afternoon.
He also added that the Director General (DG) of SLBC continues his duties without hindrance, clarifying he has not been arrested, and the broadcasting center functions normally.
Law enforcement in Freetown is actively addressing security breaches to restore calm and ensure residents’ safety. Citizens are advised to collaborate with authorities, relying on verified updates to prevent the spread of misinformation that could impede security efforts and breed uncertainty
