The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) has concluded it’s investigation on the alleged discrimination matter involving a Sierra Leonean Passenger, Sinneh Kamara, and the Brussels airlines.

It could be recalled that Kamara in a trending video had claimed he was denied boarding on SN Brussels flight on the basis that Sierra Leonean passport holders are not allowed to transit at Brussels Airport.

The management of the SLCAA swiftly responded to the issue by contacting Kamara to obtain more information and afterwards promised to investigate the matter thoroughly.

The SLCAA has now concluded its investigation into the issue and informed the public of its findings.

In the notice issued on the 13th of December 2023, the SLCAA findings revealed that, since the 1st of March 2012 Sierra Leonean Passport holders do not require a transit visa when transiting via Belgium to other non-EU destinations.

It further revealed that SN Brussels conditions of Carriage Article 7 details the rights of the airline to refuse carriage to passengers that do not “appear to have valid travel documents.”, adding that the passenger in question was denied boarding on the 1 of December on grounds of ‘unclear travel reasons.’

The SLCAA concluded that they have communicated the above to Mr. Kamara and advised him to contact Brussels Airlines for further information relating to his case.
