A three-day training on Health Facility Accreditation Standards and Processes was recently held at Occasion Resort in Lakka, Freetown, bringing together health workers, facility managers, civil society organizations, and community members from Sierra Leone’s Western Region.
The training, organized by the Sierra Leone Social Health Insurance (SLeSHI), aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet national accreditation standards and improve healthcare quality.
Dr. Michael Amara, SLeSHI’s Team Lead, spoke about the importance of delivering healthcare services with speed, quality, safety, and efficiency. He described the training as “key to equipping healthcare workers with the knowledge and skills needed to meet accreditation standards, improve service delivery, and enhance patient safety.”
Attendees were encouraged to actively engage with the material and to apply what they learned in their work to help strengthen the health system. The sessions also served to clarify the role of SLeSHI as the scheme gains recognition across the country.
This training forms part of ongoing efforts to advance healthcare standards in Sierra Leone and supports the country’s goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage.
