The Sierra Leone Local Content Agency (SLLCA) has conducted a routine local content audit at Leone Rock Mining Company in Pepel, Port Loko District, on Friday, June 19, 2026.

The Audit is part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with the country’s local content laws and policies. The audit was led by the Director General of the Agency, Fodeba Daboh, who headed a cross-section of the Agency’s technical team during the assessment of the mining company’s operations.

Furthermore, the exercise focused on evaluating Leone Rock’s employment and procurement practices to determine their level of compliance with the statutory local content requirements.

The team also examined the participation of local suppliers in the company’s operations and identified opportunities to strengthen local workforce development and increase business engagement for Sierra Leoneans.

During the audit, DG Daboh emphasized the Agency’s commitment to ensuring that large-scale investments contribute meaningfully to national development through the promotion of local employment and business participation.

He disclosed that the Agency’s preliminary findings indicated that the company’s level of compliance fell short of expectations, noting that further engagement would be undertaken to address identified gaps.

“The Sierra Leone Local Content Agency will continue to emphasize the effective implementation of the Local Content Policy across all sectors of the economy,” Mr. Daboh stated, adding that the Agency remains committed to advancing the vision of Julius Maada Bio for greater local participation in the country’s economic growth.

Finally, the routine audit forms part of the Agency’s regulatory mandate to monitor and enforce compliance with local content requirements, ensuring that Sierra Leoneans benefit from employment, procurement, and business opportunities generated by major investments operating within the country.
