The Regional Commander, Freetown West, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Sylvester M.N. Koroma, supervised the joint operation of SLP and the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), targeting the clearing of right of way and leeways along the King Harman Road and Old Railway Line, Brookfields under the Task Force on indiscipline and lawlessness.

The operation, which was led by CSP Osman Kamara, LUC Central Division, and Ing Tommy of SLRA, focused on the removal of unauthorised structures and the displacement of illegal activities conducted by street traders, tricycle (keke) operators, and commercial motorbikes (okada) riders who had encroached upon designated road reserves.

Furthermore, according to the SLP, the strategic deployment of personnel by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) ensured the exercise was conducted peacefully, efficiently, and professionally, with minimal disruption to the public and a strong emphasis on public safety and order.

This activity formed part of a broader government initiative led by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, under the leadership of Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr Morie Lengor Esq. In response to escalating concerns about urban lawlessness and structural indiscipline.

Mr. Lengor Esq. established this multi-agency task force comprising the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Freetown City Council (FCC), and the Sierra Leone Police (SLP). The mandate of the task force is to reclaim unlawfully occupied public spaces, enforce planning regulations, and promote responsible urban management in high-density traffic corridors.

finally, AIG Koroma reaffirmed the Sierra Leone Police’s steadfast commitment to supporting legal, development-driven government initiatives. He further directed the Local Unit Commander, Central Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Osman Kamara, to ensure continued police visibility in the reclaimed areas and to maintain the momentum of enforcement operations.
