The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) has categorically denied recent social media rumors alleging the smuggling of sixteen (16) containers through the port, describing the claims as false, deceptive, and completely baseless.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, the Authority clarified that no such incident had occurred under its operational jurisdiction. It emphasized that the allegations were a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and tarnish the reputation of the institution and its leadership.

The SLPHA further noted that port activities do not take place on Sundays, contradicting claims made in the circulating reports.

The Authority also pointed out that the publications failed to provide container numbers or shipment details to substantiate the allegations.

“All cargo entering or leaving the port is processed under strict customs and security protocols,” the statement read.

The SLPHA added that the National Revenue Authority (Customs Department), the Sierra Leone Police, and other security agencies jointly oversee port operations to ensure transparency and accountability.
