The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) secured land in Sulima, Pujehun District, for the construction of a strategic transshipment port.

Led by Director of Human Resources Alhassan George, the SLPHA delegation demarcated the site near the borders of Liberia and Ivory Coast, which is poised to become a key maritime hub for trade between West Africa and South America.

This initiative, driven by SLPHA Director General Yankuba Askia Bio, aims to enhance Sierra Leone’s seaport infrastructure and boost economic development.

Local authorities have fully supported the project, recognizing its potential to bring significant economic benefits to the region.

With the land surveyed, the project will proceed with planning and construction, positioning Sierra Leone to strengthen its role in international maritime trade and drive regional economic growth.
