Former Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Chief Alhaji Bai Shebora Somano Kapen III of Mambolo Chiefdom has revealed that he is not a supporter of the All People’s Congress (APC) but rather Dr. Samura Kamara.

This clarification came after he was spotted at Samura Kamara’s official flagbearer declaration in Makeni over the weekend.

“My message to Sierra Leoneans
regarding the June 24 elections is that I’m supporting Dr. Samura Kamara, nothing more, nothing less,” the former SLPP Chairman affirmed.

In an interview with Awoko Newspaper, Chief Somano Kapen said he was present at the party’s regional headquarter because he believed in Samura Kamara. The Chief pledged his support for the APC flagbearer aspirant.

He added that he will ensure that the APC flagbearer aspirant win the entire North-West Region in the June 2023 elections.

When asked about joining the APC since he has been sidelined by his SLPP party, the Chief replied in the negative. He also didn’t reply as to whether he rejoin his SLPP party anytime soon.

Chief Kapen served as Chairman of the SLPP for five years before walking off the party’s convention in Kenema, 2018.
