A Norwegian investor, Morlen Tronstad has claimed that Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Member of Parliament for Constituency 013 in Kenema, Alusine Kanneh was part of team that duped him and orchestrated his arrest.

Tronstad claimed that he bought 35 percent of shares for the sum of 1.3 million US Dollars in a mining company operating in Sierra Leone called Bravura while in Oslo, Norway after he read a report that the company is engaged in gold mining.

He said when he came to Sierra Leone last year October, he learnt that the company was only engaged in small-scale gold mining in Salema Village, Penguia Chiefdom in Kailahun District.

The Norwegian said when he learnt that the company does not have license for large-scale mining in the village because another company was already involved there, he requested for his investment but was refused and the SLPP Parliamentarian ordered his arrest.

He added that it was the Paramount Chief that came to his rescue.

He told the press at Radisson Blu Hotel in Aberdeen that Kanneh is a shareholder in the mining company and has been among those wanting to hurt him several times.

Concord Times reported that the SLPP Parliamentarian, however, denied the allegation of ordering Tronstad’s arrest.

It could be recalled that earlier this year, there were reports that the company imported mining equipment said to be worth over 200 million US Dollars to begin gold mining in Sierra Leone but the recent allegation by the Norwegian has left serious doubts on locals.
