The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) gathered last Friday at its headquarters in Freetown to honor the life and legacy of Chief Alhaji Mohamed Baimba Fadika, a National Trustee and former Deputy Organizing Secretary of the party.

The event, attended by President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio, celebrated the contributions of the man affectionately known as “Pa Baimba.”

A dedicated grassroots mobilizer, Chief Fadika was instrumental in strengthening SLPP support in Freetown’s East End and the Magazine community. Party leaders and family members commemorated his decades of loyalty and unwavering commitment to the SLPP, even during challenging opposition years.

SLPP National Chairman Dr. Prince Harding praised Fadika’s unyielding dedication to the party and President Bio. “Despite opposition from family and outsiders, Pa Baimba remained focused on one goal: seeing President Bio and the SLPP in power,” Harding said.

National Secretary General Umaru Napoleon Koroma Esq., who chaired the ceremony, welcomed tributes from various SLPP representatives, including women’s council members, elders, and the East District Chairman. Speakers unanimously recognized Fadika’s steadfast loyalty and his role in advancing the party’s goals.

Representing the family, his son, Bilal Fadika, and daughter, Kuntumi Fadika, expressed gratitude for the SLPP’s support, saying, “We are deeply grateful to the party and the President for honoring our father’s legacy.”

First Lady Fatima Bio shared her personal connection to Chief Fadika, describing him as a father figure. “He served with faith and passion, never asking for anything in return,” she said.

President Julius Maada Bio delivered an emotional tribute, emphasizing Fadika’s convictions and loyalty. “He was a pillar of strength for this party and played a critical role in its success,” the President said, noting the significant loss to both the SLPP and Fadika’s family.

Chief Alhaji Mohamed Baimba Fadika’s unwavering dedication to the SLPP and his legacy as a grassroots mobilizer were lauded throughout the ceremony. As the SLPP bids farewell to one of its staunchest supporters, the party vowed to carry forward his commitment to its ideals.

The event concluded with prayers for Fadika’s eternal peace and strength for his family in their time of mourning.
