The recently appointed Resident Minister of Northwest Region, Alhaji Alpha Kanu has on Wednesday 23 February 2022 asserted that the Sierra Leone’s People Party (SLPP) is the perfect political party for the people of Sierra Leone.

Alpha Khan made this statement during President Bio visit to Koya Chiefdom, Port Loko District, Northwest Region.

The former Presidential aspirant of the main opposition, All Peoples Congress (APC) disclosed that the reason why he joined the SLPP Government was to be part of the ongoing process of taking development to the people of Sierra Leone.

Khan said that SLPP is the only party to allow a Themne to rule it, noting that It is the only party that made a Themne Deputy Prime Minister, in the form of Kandeh Bureh, adding it is the only party that allowed for a Kambia resident to be President of Sierra Leone, in form of late Ahmed Tejan Kabba.

The former APC minister noted that the SLPP is the party that is opened for everyone in the country to be part of their development agenda.

He called on the Northwest to support the New Direction government of President Bio.

Khan also praised President Julius Maada Bio for the successful implementation of his Free Quality School Education (FQSE) flagship programme nationwide.

Critics of Alpha Khan have described him as a political prostitute who trades pride and self-respect for personal gain. His supporters however say that he is merely showing patriotism by rising to the occasion to serve his country, irrespective of which political party is in power.

In the run-up to the 2018 elections, Khan was one of 28 candidates aspiring for the presidential flagbearership of the APC party, but Samura Kamara was selected as the party’s presidential flagbearer.
