A group of medical professionals from Marbella, in southern Spain, has visited Caritas Christ the King Hospital in Waterloo, Western Area Rural District, to provide free urology surgeries to patients in Sierra Leone.
The team, made up of urologists, anesthesiologists, and nurses, carried out surgeries for people with long-standing health problems including urethral strictures, prostate issues, and hydroceles. They also treated urinary tract infections and other related conditions.
Many families who brought loved ones for care expressed their appreciation, saying they were relieved to finally receive help. For some patients, this was the first time they had access to specialized treatment.
Hospital staff say the visit brought relief to those who had waited a long time for such medical services. A full report on the team’s work and its results is expected to be shared soon.
