The State Department for Lands and Physical Planning held a virtual webinar on Thursday, bringing together officers from across the country to discuss strategies for improving performance and efficiency in public service delivery.

The webinar follows a circular from Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, highlighting the need for adherence to performance standards and warning of corrective measures and potential disciplinary action for non-compliance.

During the session, Principal Secretary Generali Nixon Korir addressed staff, noting past achievements while stressing the importance of following service charters, timely reporting of absences, and accountability in daily duties. Officers meeting performance targets could be considered for promotion, while those failing to comply may face disciplinary measures.

Secretary Administration, Mr. Maalim Mohammed, also addressed participants, urging staff to maintain professionalism, avoid conflicts of interest, and comply with administrative procedures.

The webinar discussed several issues affecting public service delivery, including staff conduct, compliance, conflict of interest, audit queries, and adherence to administrative guidelines.

Senior officials present included the Director of Land Adjudication and Settlement, Director of Surveys, Director of Human Resource Management and Development, Director of Supply Chain Management, Chief Finance Officer, Head of Internal Audit, Director of the National Land Information Management System (NLIMS), Director of Central Planning and Project Monitoring (CPPM), and Director of Valuation.

The department said the session aimed to reinforce a culture of accountability and improve efficiency in public service.
