The State funeral Service for police officers killed during August 10 violent anti-government protests in Freetown and Northern parts of Sierra Leone is currently taking place at the Police Training School Auditorium, Hastings.

The six police officers were targeted and brutally murdered during the deadly protests that received local and international condemnation.

Last week, the Honourable Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh said the killed policemen had earned such a State led Funeral and it was the very least they deserved.

The VP spoke during a meeting he hosted with the bereaved families of the slain officers at his Tower Hill offices.

The families were each given NLe100,000 (One Hundred Million Old Leones) for additional funeral rites expenses.

The Hon. VP also declared the creation of a Special Fund for Education and Social Needs of the children and beneficiaries of those victims of the Terror Attacks.

The funeral service is graced by the president of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, First Lady, Fatima Bio, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, the Inspector General of Police, ministers of government, senior government officials, bereaved families, the press, friends of the bereaved families and members of the public.
